I recently had the opportunity to test a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and I have posted some of my results. Although the 5D II doesn’t look like a pro digital camera it certainly has Pro Digital image quality. I was especially impressed with the high ISO image quality of the 5D II. The 5D II at ISO 1600 is the equivalent to my 1D Mark III at ISO 400. I also don’t think the focus capability is as bad as some people claim. I was impressed by the 7D’s image quality but I honestly feel the 5D II has the 7D by at least a stop.

The Buckeyes bounced back from a crushing defeat last week by the Purdue Boilermakers. The Buckeye’s looked like they were going to repeat last week’s loss during the first half. The Buckeye’s turned it on in the second half though and defeated Minnesota 38-7.

The Buckeyes totaled 509 yards of offense with DeVier Posey (eight catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns) and Jordan Hall (seven carries for 75 yards and a touchdown). Minnesota (4-4 and 2-2 in the Big Ten Conference) managed just 286 yards against the Ohio State defense.

Thanks to the help of the wonderful tech support staff at my hosting company we have figured out why my blog had stopped working. I am now back up and running again…

Dublin Coffman’s running back Shaun Jones (30) eludes the grasp of Cincinnati St Xavier’s linebacker Luke Kuechly (3) during second quarter action of the Division 1 State Semifinals at the Dayton Welcome Stadium, November 24, 2007. Cincinnati went on to defeat Dublin 10-7 to advance to next weeks state championship game in Canton, Ohio.

Canon 400mm F/2.8 lens, Canon 1D Mark III, Manual Exposure, ISO 800, 1/250th @ F/4.0. Canon 580 EX Flash off camera mounted underneath the camera on the monopod via a super clamp set on ETTL and +2/3rds FEV in camera.

My UPS Guy showed up when I was checking out my lights for a senior photo I was planning on shooting later that day, so I had him sit down and I did a couple of test shots. I used a two light setup consisting of a large 6’ x 4’ softbox camera right and a 4’ X 8’ white V bounce panel camera left I changed a seamless gray background to blue with my background light and a blue gel. Canon 1D Mark III ISO 100 F11 @ 1/300

My or I mean the Ohio State Buckeyes lost their football game Saturday to the University of Illinois most likely ruining their chances of a national championship. It is Monday and I am just now feeling up to posting an image or two. On a brighter note though it is Michigan week and I am hoping the buckeyes can regroup and beat the pants off of Michigan

I had the opportunity to work with a very pleasant model today. I usually shoot mostly sports but I am trying to broaden my horizons by shooting just about anything my clients request. His name is Chopper and he did just about everything I asked and all it took was a hamburger. This was a two flash setup, I used a large reflector camera left.

Canon 1D Mark III, 24-70 f/2.8 lens, ISO 100 f/8 @ 1/320th, AWB – I used a large soft box camera right and a hair light high and to the rear.

The first week of the OHSAA football playoffs are finished. I covered the Dublin Coffman (11-0) vs Gahanna Lincoln Lions (8-3) game. Gahanna went into the locker room leading the Shamrocks 21-14 after scoring on fourth and one with one second left on the clock. Dublin Coffman came from behind in the second half and scored 14 unanswered points to eventually defeat the Lions 28-21.

I was contacted recently by a small business owner in the Columbus area. She asked me if I would be willing to photograph product photos for her marketing portfolio. There are several types of photography that I enjoy and unfortunately product photography is not high on that list or at least it wasn’t until recently. continue reading…
